Environmental Certification
The Domestic Division was the first transport company in Norway that was environmentally certified following the International Standardisation ISO 14001.The main terminal at Alnabru Oslo was certified on the 6th of March 1998. The 20 remaining terminals in Norway were certified the same year. The entire company of Schenker AS was certified on the1st January 2007.
The certification involves environmental training of all the employees, environmental demands of their own purchases and demands of environmental accounts from the suppliers. Waste at all terminals is sorted by source with a total of over 1000 tons collected per year. There is also a measure to reduce emissions from road traffic by 20 percent through improved co-ordination of traffic, use of technology, replacement of vehicles and training of the drivers for a more environmentally friendly driving style. Schenkers self created environmental calculator gives customers an overview of each shipments emission production.
